Hope.

We begin today, November 8th 2016, eyes peeled to every news source imaginable. This election season has broken the record for exhausting, stressful and divisive spectacles in the United States. No matter the outcome, remember friends, that where there is music, where there is love, where there is life, there is hope. We shall continue, we shall work to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we meet. We will make music.

I leave you with these words by one of the greatest American Poets, Emily Dickinson:

“Hope” is the thing with feathers – (314)

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

  1. Ahhhhhh…..thank you CMN, for this, and for being such a focus for hope and music and laughter and the joy of children and the joy of people who love to bring joy to children. Yes, we will make music 🙂

  2. Beautiful and best message for my heart and mind this morning! And Joanne Hammil has a beautiful round written for this poem!

  3. Perfect poem choice for the day. Thank you.

  4. Perfect message for these less-than-perfect times. Emily Dickenson’s words practically sing off the page.
