My favorite thing about this song is that children and adults alike really love to sing these simple yet wise words from one of the great songwriters of our times. I’ve been singing it for years in my music programs to the delight of children and teachers alike. I included it on my new recording,“Take the Seed,” and recently got this sweet message from a woman about listening to it with her daughter and granddaughter:

We have been listening to your music…and are enjoying it and will enjoy it from now on as we grow together. The song “Three Little Birds” is our new mantra, with “everything will be all right” as the chorus, a song we did not know before this. Our family, as most are, is complicated, and (my daughter) kept repeating it over and over today while she colored and played, danced and sang with you. It brought calm and reassurance to our day.”

CHORUS:
Don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be alright
Singing don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be alright

Rise up this morning
Smile with the rising sun
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true
Saying ‘this is my message to you’

Singing don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be alright
Singing don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be alright

  1. I’ve loved this song ever since I first heard it. Thank you Bob Marley for writing such a simple and beautiful song, and thank you Barb Tilsen for recording such a sweet version of it. May we all remember what the lyrics teach us.

  2. Barb,
Was this tune recorded at Scott Malchow’s studio (at Jack Pearson’s place) in Mpls? The recording/sound/production has Scott’s name written all over it. I could be wrong though.
Absolutely top shelf! Great interpretation of this classic.
    Post more!
Any CMNers shopping for a studio should check out Scott. Great guy to work with!!
