From Jackson:

There is a little story behind this song:  This has only happened a few times in my life — twice with Bob’s lyrics — I just started spontaneously singing the song and the tune seemed to fit and stuck.  Incidentally, Two of a Kind (David & Jenny Heitler-Klevins) also recorded it, crediting me with the music.  I think they came upon the tune from what Bob notated from simply hearing me sing it to him.  I remember asking Bob if he wanted me to send him a recording but he declined, saying that wasn’t needed — he “got it.”   I was impressed believing that he’d remember it from just hearing it once.  So while the simpler version of what David & Jenny recorded is recognizable, it significantly differs from my original.

The Seed by Bob Blue and Jackson Gillman:

Words and music: TheSeed

  1. Love this. A beautiful collaboration between two geniuses. Thank you Bob. Thank you Jackson.

  2. What a wonderful seed-paced song! Great lyric, great melody. I could practically feel it being planted and weathering the seasoning changes and slowly slowly becoming the future!

  3. Love this! Thank you, Jackson, for a window into your creative process – and collaborative powers. The photo of the two of you is priceless.

  4. Brought a smile to my face! (the song and the picture of that wonderful day)
